There’s something about a lakeside wedding in North Carolina that just hits different.
The breeze, the light reflecting off the water, the quiet moments in between—it all creates this calm, intimate feeling that you can’t really replicate anywhere else. And this day? It was the perfect mix of emotional, intentional, and so much fun.
The morning started slow and intentional.
One of my favorite parts of the day was watching everything come together during hair and makeup. There’s something so grounding about those moments… sitting still for a second, laughing with your girls, letting it all sink in.
A huge shoutout to Chelsea Oneal Make-up and Robin McKenzie Hair for absolutely killing it. Taylor, the bride’s look was timeless, soft, and elevated in a way that photographed beautifully all day long (and held up through all the emotions and the adventurous boat ride later that day).

The ceremony setup overlooked the lake with the most peaceful, natural backdrop. I am talking palm trees, greenery, and the water stretching out behind them.
Simple. Intentional. Beautiful.
Walking down the aisle with her dad, you could feel the weight of the moment—not in a heavy way, but in a this matters kind of way.
And when she saw him waiting for her?
That quiet smile. The tears. The deep breath.
Those are the moments you don’t plan—but they’re the ones you never forget.

The reception design was clean, classic, and elegant—white florals, soft textures, and gold accents that tied everything together without feeling overdone.
Everything felt cohesive, but more importantly… it felt like them, thank you to the wonderful wedding planner Amy Plyler.
And that’s always the goal.

Okay… this part.
Hands down one of my favorite moments of the entire day.
We took the boat out onto the lake right as the sun started to set, and it was one of those sunsets that just keeps getting better by the second.
Soft pink skies. Glassy water. That golden glow wrapping around everything.
It gave them a moment to just pause—to be together, to breathe, to take it all in.
No timeline pressure. No crowd. Just the two of them.
And honestly? Those are always the photos couples end up loving the most.

As soon as the reception started, the energy completely shifted—in the best way.
The dance floor was packed, people were fully in it, and it felt like one big celebration instead of a structured event.
Huge shoutout to DJ Mixology for keeping the energy up all night. The music, the flow, the timing—everything was on point.
And yes… the glow sticks made an appearance, and it was chaos in the best way.

What I loved most about this wedding wasn’t just how beautiful it was (because it was), but how present everyone felt.
No one was rushing through it. No one was overly focused on perfection.
They were laughing, crying, hugging their people, and actually living their day.
And that’s the whole point.
Because years from now, it won’t be the table settings or the timeline you remember most…
It’ll be how it felt.

If you’re dreaming of a wedding day that feels like you—where you’re not rushed, not overly posed, and actually get to be present with your people…
I’d love to photograph it.
Because the moments you’ll treasure most?
They’re usually the ones you didn’t even realize were happening.
If you’re planning a lakeside wedding in North Carolina and want photos that feel natural, emotional, and true to your day—I’d love to capture it for you.
